So when does it happen and why does it happen? So when a patient comes with a locked open jaw, that means when the patient opens the jaw, the amount of flexion that is happening in the musculature and the ligaments of the temporomadibualr joint is eventually more. So the condyle of the mandible tends to come out of its socket and gets locked in a certain position. So when this kind of a scenario happens, it is a non-surgical intervention. We try to manually get the locked open jaw in its position and we try to palace it back on the condyle from where it has been displaced but I suggest it should be done only by a trained dentist and don’t try to attempt it yourself .
