This is a really nice drill for working on good contact for when chipping on tight lies. A lot of people, faced with this sort of shot, will come in fairly steeply and hit “down” on the ball to try to execute “perfect” ball first contact. Granted, this seems kind of obvious. But it’s just not necessary. By aggressively hitting down and aiming for ball first, you are millimetres from a thin strike or a fat chunk.
