The platter floats entirely on permanent magnets, so there are no mechanical thrust bearings. It contains an exceptionally quiet direct drive motor. Liquid is used to enhance stabilization. An automatic clamping system flattens both center and periphery of the LP. The Magnezar supports dual tonearms, with support for Klaudio’s tangential tonearm (sold separately) and laser pod. Direct Motor & Drive Developed by Klaudio The Magnezar turntable features a 45-pole brushless direct motor that ensures quiet operation (0.02-0.05% Wow) and precise speed (± 1/1000 RPM). Its user-oriented design doesn’t require adjustments or calibrations - a simple click starts and stops. It can stop within 4 seconds using an electromagnetic brake. The motor is seamlessly integrated into both the plinth (stator) and the platter (rotor). Heavy Magnetically Levitated Platter Klaudio's unique design features a heavy 44lbs (20kg) 100% magnetically levitated platter with no thrust bearing, a world's first to achieve such levitation at this weight. This technology replaces traditional cushioned feet with a single effective cushion that maintains balance while absorbing vibrations. Rim Inertial Platter With a heavy and well-balanced design (total weight: 121 lbs (55kg)), the Magnezar turntable ensures stable playback. The platter has a hollow design with empty center, concentrating weight at the rim. This provides the equivalent inertial effect as a much heavier platter. Automatic LP Clamping Functions (spindle: 1.5 kg, peripheral: 4.2 kg) The turntable’s clamping system prevents LP wobbling and ensures stable cartridge tracking. Unlike conventional vacuum and ring clamps which are laborious to install, Magnezar’s mechanical clamp activates automatically whenever the tonearm is above the record. There is a sensor to ensure discs are compatible with the clamp, and the clamp can be optionally disabled (entirely, or just the spindle). Stylus Protection With an adjustable clamp mechanism, the stylus is protected from touching the peripheral clamp. This ensures the needle is safely positioned between the first track and peripheral clamp.)
