⚡️ ELVIS Presley’s Bass Singer JD SUMNER of The Stamps Talks about when he met Elvis

Elvis Presley was 14/15 yrs old, when he first heard the powerful, bass voice of J.D. Sumner. Elvis was so captivated by the deep tones by JD, that he would go to the Ellis Auditorium in Memphis, to listen to him sing gospel all night long. The two men formed a close bond that lasted throughout their lives. JD sang at Gladys Presley's funeral and was asked by Vernon to help plan and sing at Elvis' funeral. J. D. has shared many stories about his friendship with Elvis. One regret JD has, Elvis requested to speak with him, in Memphis, shortly before Elvis' unexpected death. JD never had a chance to find out what was so important to Elvis. JD Sumner: November 19, 1924 - November 16, 1998 JD's vocal range extended below the lowest playable note on the piano, reaching the note G 0 in a 26-second vocal slide at a concert while singing backing vocals for Elvis. JD's book about Elvis: Elvis: His Love for Gospel Music and J D Sumner – January 1, 1991 JD's memoir: The Life and Times of J.D. Sumner: The World's Lowest Bass Singer
