The major characters in the story are Evans, Hooker, Chang-hi and Chinaman. About the Author Herbert George Wells (H. G. Wells) was an English writer born on 21 September 1866. He is credited for authoring multiple novels and short stories in many genres. We can explore his works in history, satire, social commentary and autobiography. His literatures have made him referred as the "father of science fiction." The Treasure in the Forest is a suspense story with starts from two characters named Evans and Hooker who start their adventure with a map and a unprovised Canoe (boat). They robbed and murdered a Chinaman and got the map which was unclear. They began their journey to the island as shown on the map. There is suspense in the story and it concludes with Evan and Hooker laying in suffering and waiting for their death. Moral of the Story The story describes the greed in human being as the biggest enemy of a person. It also creates weakness in people in the journey of accumulating wealth and property. The greed always ends with destruction and damages. We must always be well-prepared before initiating an adventure and task. We must always look after the consequences before initiating some tasks. Otherwise, our condition would be same like as the characters in the story, Evans and Hooker.
