We had a wonderful lunch at Spice Mantraa, Candolim and ended our day enjoying a cruise on the majestic Mandvi river. -History of the forts- Perched majestically atop a rugged cliff overlooking the vast expanse of the Arabian Sea, Aguada Fort stands as a timeless sentinel of Goa's rich history. Built by the Portuguese in the 17th century, this formidable fortress was a crucial bastion for safeguarding the region against enemy invasions. Its strategic location allowed for unparalleled views of the surrounding coastline, enabling early detection of approaching ships. Named after the freshwater spring within its premises, "Aguada" meaning "water" in Portuguese, the fort was not only a military stronghold but also served as a vital watering station for passing ships.
