On Nov. 22, 1883, the Crouch family was brutally slain — one of the deadliest unsolved slayings in Jackson's history. Susan M Crouch Holcomb (Daughter) & Jacob Crouch (Father) are laid to rest here. For years, folks would gather on the night of Nov. 22 to witness a supernatural appearance until local police put a stop to it. Hazy, ghost-like mist traveled at night throughout St. John cemetery in Jackson to Reynolds Cemetery in Spring Arbor, which is five miles away from where one of the Crouch family members is buried.
