Racine has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1836, Racine has grown into a vibrant city with a mix of modern amenities and historical landmarks. I visit some of Racine's most popular attractions, including the beautiful Wind Point Lighthouse, the oldest operating lighthouse on Lake Michigan, and the Racine Art Museum, showcasing contemporary and modern art. I also take a stroll through the historic districts, admiring the well-preserved Victorian homes and learning about the city's past as a center for industrialization and innovation. There are golf clubs and several very large marinas. I recommend taking a drive through downtown Racine (from the South end). Pershing Park and the marinas are to your right where lake Michigan is. Take a drive or walk down there. It is beautiful. There are restaurants and places to eat. Then get back on Main Street and head North for about 1. mile and you come to the Racine Zoo to your right. After leaving the Zoo, get back on N. Main Street and continue driving north for about three miles until you come to the Windpont Lighthouse which will be on your right on Lighthouse Drive. When in town, check out Horlick Dam and nearby Quarry Lake Park. They are on the west side of town. Wisconsin has more than 15,000 lakes and 84,000 miles of rivers and streams. It is a beautiful State and home of the Greenbay Packers, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Milwaukee Brewers Racine has many beautiful parks. (Racine knows how to do parks). It has plenty of beach areas and plenty of fishing in Root River and in Lake Michigan. Racine is known for its Kringles. When in town you MUST check out O&H Danish Bakery on Washington Avenue and try one of their Kringles. The Pecan Kringle is my favorite. (You can order online and they ship fresh anywhere in the United States) Racine also boasts a thriving culinary scene, with a range of local restaurants offering delicious cuisine. I sample some of the best food the city has to offer and learn about the local food culture from the friendly residents. I had a great and happy childhood there.
