Rainy Tent Camping under a tarp : bailed out due to Heavy RAIN

I love camping in the rain and so was happy to head out into Arthur's Pass National Park in New Zealand for a challenging hike up to an alpine pass. Then the forecast changed and with torrential rain now on the forecast and an exposed ridge line to navigate, I changed my plans and opted for a car camp instead. It rained on and off on this camp, lightly during the evening and morning and heavy rain over night. This trip did not turn out to be what I had planned, but then that is how it is with wild camping. You have to be prepared to change your plans when the conditions change or worsen. What I ended up with was a lovely relaxing camp, the beautiful sound of the rain on the tent while I fell asleep, a fresh morning, complete with rainbow, and a gorgeous view of this special part of New Zealand.
