STEEP Mount Margaret Tk Get's This 4WD Trip Started [ VHC ]

Straight off the black top and we are into it, low range 4WD heading up Mount Margaret Track. It's just out from Licola in the Vic High Country, and it's a crackin 4WD track to begin with. This track is very steep and rocky all the way up to the heli pad. I have travelled many of the 4WD tracks in the Vic High Country. Like many of the 4WD tracks around the Vic High Country, they have stunning mountain views, steep 4WD tracks and river crossings. This trip had all of that and more. We spent a very cold night at high elevation in alpine snow country along Dingo Hill Track, and woke to a very cold and frosty morning. Nothing that a morning campfire and a hot cupa wouldn't fix to get us warmed up. After breakfast we packed up and headed off for the tight down hill switch backs on Dingo Hill Track. The drive down along Caledonia River Track was pretty easy going, compared to other 4WD trips I've done alone that track. The track climbs steeply up onto the Howitt High Plains. We had pretty good weather so the tracks were nice and dry. What a great trip across the Vic High Country.
