Lou Donaldson alto saxophone ( (born November 1, 1926, now 94 years old!) Herman Foster piano (1928-1999) Jeff Fuller bass (1960) Brian Kirk drums George's Jazz Café in Arnhem, The Netherlands. June 2, 1991. The video starts with Blues Walk, followed by Cheek to Cheek and Bye Bye Blackbird. I recently cleaned my office annex music collection and found this recording which I converted a long time ago from a VHS video that I recorded 20 years ago in George's Jazz Café in Arnhem on June 2, 1991? The famous jazz venue on the corner of the Hoogstraat and the Varkensstraat that closed in 1996. George Inge (1940-1998) and his wife Nettie were the managers. George was a taciturn man, only with too much noise during the concerts he shouted his catchphrase: SILENCE! The bartender had a special name, Jesus. Graphic designer and homedrummer Rinus Smit designed dozens of concertflyers for this Sunday afternoon concerts. A long list of celebrities performed there on Sunday, among others Chet Baker, Dexter Gordon, Art Blakey, Johnny Griffin, Toots Thielemans, Tete Montoliu, Arnett Cobb, Lou Donaldson, Jacky Terrasson, Houston Person, Louis Hayes, Kirk Lightsey, Billy Higgins, Dannie Richmond. Besides the recordings with Chet Baker and now Lou Donaldson there are no further live registrations to my knowledge.
