Custom Metal FLOATING Stairs / Making Treads, Part 2

#stairs #whiteoak #treads Yessir, this is Part 2 of the Custom Metal floating stairs project for the Pool House. In this video we will go through the process of how we made our own custom 3" thick white oak stair treads and finished them off with a stain bath and 2 coats of clear! My wonderful clients specified that they wanted their stair treads to be BEEFY and wanted them to be 3" thick. I did try and search to find a pre-made tread, but what I did find started at 400.00 a piece and it would take 8/10 weeks to get. Soooo, I said the hell with that and started looking at other options. lol This was my idea I came up with. I bought standard bullnose stair treads from Lowes. They had the best pricing, by far, on white oak treads. I believe it was 32.00 a pc. I ordered 37 of them and that was enough wood to make 12 full treads and a platform (landing) that was 74" x 34" Overall, I probably was able to build these on site for approximately 150.00 (time and material) and we built them in 3 days. Definitely a cost savings for my clients! Thanks to my buddy Jim Jackman ‪@silverwoodcabinetry4631‬ for putting the finishing touches on these treads! Check him out here on YouTube. He does really beautiful high end custom cabinetry! Sherwin Williams color matched tintable oil base stain; https://www.sherwin-williams.com/home...
