2024 Q&A: Integrated Psychosocial Care for DGBI:How to Get the Most out of the Resources You Have

Questions addressed will include: What do we mean by integrated psychosocial care? What types of integrated care are out there? What is the role of digital therapeutics as part of integrated care? What is the future of psychosocial care in DGBI? Dr. Laurie Keefer is one of our Rome Board Members who co-founded the GastroPsychology Section along with Dr. Sarah Kinsinger. GastroPsychology has more than 400 members around the world committed to the evidence-based practice of integrated psychosocial care for DGBI. Dr. Keefer is a Professor of Medicine and Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in NYC where she is the Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Integrated Care Program. She has held NIH funding for more than 15 years in the area of behavioral intervention design for chronic digestive disorders and is now a champion for integration of behavioral techniques into routine GI care. She is internationally recognized for her advocacy for the inclusion of gastropsychology in the management of DGBI and is a sought after mentor, speaker and collaborator. Dr. Keefer has authored more than 200 publications, co-edited the Handbook for Psychogastroenterology for mental health professionals, and co-founded the company Trellus Health, a chronic care management solution for IBD based on her resilience-based Methodology. We look forward to sharing this exciting series with you, and we hope you will join us this Friday for our first interview!
