Garfield, the 20th U.S. President, is best known for the circumstances of his assassination in 1881, the medical story that followed, and the novelty of having the second-shortest administration in American history. But most people today can probably name more characteristics of Garfield, the comic strip cat, than facts about the life of the real Garfield.
