I went for another afternoon / evening stroll in the South Downs to see if I can fit everything I need to cook outdoors (and a bottle of wine of course!) in a small day pack - I think it's around 15 litre capacity. The walk was from the edge of Brighton, initially along the Sussex Border Path, taking in the Chattri Memorial, and then later joining the South Downs Way. I went for an ice cream on top of Ditchling Beacon before finding a nice spot with a view of the sunset to enjoy some wine and make dinner. I cooked a simple pasta dish: penne with tomato and "truffle" sauce, plus an English version of pecorino. All the ingredients (except water) fit inside my 750ml billy can. For a stove I used the BCB Firedragon stove, which is very compact and lightweight. That left room for a bottle of Burgundy!
