Hi Friends, I wanted to share my thoughts on the abortion ban coming out of Arizona. From attacks on Planned Parenthood and other resources for women's health, there hasn't actually been an instance quite like this. I was actually being educated by a friend of mine that when Roe V Wade became the law of the land it superseded a lot of this old laws but many of them were never actually repealed. Once Roe went away most of these laws, still on the books, were free to go back into effect. We know this fight is not about women's health because the states with the harshest punishments and toughest abortion laws also have the weakest maternal support according to data. Not to mention the same politicians that want to restrict access also want to strip government aid from people who may need it due to having another mouth to feed. States like Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Ohio, South Dakota, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Mississippi, all have some of the highest child poverty rates with no sign of improving. Protests have popped up around the country in reaction to this State Supreme Court decision with more to be expected.
