শিলা বাজার বাংলাদেশের ময়মনসিংহ জেলার গফরগাঁও উপজেলা জনপদের মশাখালি ইউনিয়নের মশাখালি গ্রামে শিলা নদীর তীরে অবস্থিত। চিরচেনা গ্রাম বাংলার এমন দৃশ্য গ্রামীণ জনপদে এখন প্রায় বিলুপ্তির পথে। ২শত বছরের পুরনো ঐতিহ্যবাহী এই গ্রামীণ হাট সপ্তাহে প্রতি শুক্রবার দিন বিকেল বেলায় বসে। আগেকার দিনে কথা, বহু দূর দূরান্ত থেকে শিলা নদীতে নৌকা বেয়ে এই হাটে আসতো হাটুরেরা আর আসেপাশের কয়েক মাইল দূরের গ্রামের বাসিন্দারা আসতো পায়ে হেঁটে। দূর দূরান্তের সওদাগলেরা নৌকা নিয়ে এই শিলা নদীতে আসতো বলেই এই হাটের নামকরণ করা হয়েছিল শিলা বাজার। এখন নদীতে আর নৌক চলাচল করেনা। দূর দূরান্তের হাটুরেরা আর সওদা করতে আসে না। আশেপাশের দশ গ্রামের বাসিন্দাদের নিয়ে কোনরকমে খুরিয়ে খুরিয়ে চলছে প্রাচীন আমলের ঐতিহ্যবাহী এই গ্রামীণ হাট। ধান, পাট, মাছ-মাংস, হাঁস-মুরগি, টাটকা শাক-সবজি থেকে শুরু করে প্রায় সকল প্রকার নিত্য প্রয়োজনীয় পণ্য এই হাটে কিনতে পাওয়া যায় কম মূল্যে। এই অঞ্চলের বাসিন্দাদের প্রায় ৮০ শতাংশ কৃষি কাজ করে জীবিকা নির্বাহ করে থাকে। প্রচুর পরিমাণে ধানের আবাদ হয় এই জনপদে। কৃষকেরা তাদের নিজেদের উৎপাদিত ধান ও টাটকা শাক-সবজি বিক্রি করতে আসেন এই হাটে। যুগের পর যুগ শতাব্দীর পর শতাব্দী গ্রামীণ জনপদের ইতিহাস আর ঐতিহ্যকে ধারণ করে এখনো টিকে আছে অপরূপ সুন্দরী গ্রামীণ হাট শিলা বাজার। Shila Bazar is located on the banks of Shila river in Mashakhali village of Mashakhali union in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh district, Bangladesh. Such a scene of familiar village Bengal is almost disappearing in the rural township. This 200 year old traditional rural haat is held every Friday afternoon during the week. In earlier days, farmers used to come to this market by boat on the Shila River from far away and the residents of the nearby villages came on foot. This market was named Shila Bazar because traders from far away used to come to this Shila River by boat. Now there are no boats in the river. Haturs from far away no longer come to trade. This traditional village market of ancient times is somehow being sold by the residents of the surrounding ten villages. From rice, jute, fish and meat, poultry, fresh vegetables and almost all types of daily essential products are available to buy in this market at low prices. About 80 percent of the residents of this region earn their livelihood by doing agricultural work. A large amount of paddy is cultivated in this township. Farmers come to this market to sell their own produce and fresh vegetables.
