Practise playing piano without looking at your hands | A Bach Prelude that provides good training

We're often advised to play piano without watching our hands. However, this is easier said than done. I was working on Bach's D Minor Prelude (WTC Book 1) and as I was practising one day, it suddenly occurred to me that except for one right hand jump, the entire piece can in fact be played without needing to look at our hands. By a judicious choice of piano fingering, we're able to let our hands move around the keyboard without ever needing to reach for more than an octave from our current note. It is a really good exercise in recognising intervals both as they appear in the music and of course as they feel in our fingers. As this is Bach, it is sufficiently complicated that, unlike plain exercises designed to play without watching, we need to pay really careful attention to the music as it gets quite complex in places. Moreover, it is a beautiful piece to play also and so nice and pleasant on the ears. If you have heard Glenn Gould play this (   • Prelude and Fugue No. 6 in D Minor, B...  ) then you might be scared by the speed of it. However, Sir Andras Schiff plays it at a much more sedate tempo (   • Видео  ) that would easily be within the reach of most of us. Once you're used to playing it without watching, you can bring it up to a nice performance standard! If you have trouble working out a fingering, drop me a note in the comments with the bar in question and I'll let you know what I used.
