A lot of what you see people wearing these days is maybe a funny quote on their shirt, or maybe a popular phrase, or a niche like Coffee, Cars, or Fantasy that people enjoy. But there are a couple of rules to follow when you are making these t-shirt designs for Amazon Merch. We want to keep you text simple to understand. Even if the design is cool, if it's difficult to read, it's a bit pointless. It's also not recommended to use a whole bunch of text. Try to keep the design to around 4-5 words for maximum visibility. You can also incorporate humor into your shirt design. Funny quotes or sayings will always resonate with people (especially if it's a common phrase people are used to hearing or say all of the time). In the same line of thinking, popular slogans or phrases is also a good idea, like "Here comes the sun," or "Death before Decaf." Be sure to use contrasting colors in your design. If your shirt color and your text colors are too closely related, you could have some printing errors, so make sure that contrast nicely so that your text pops! In a similar way, if you are wanting to print full images on a shirt (like memes or a picture of your cat), make sure you are using extremely high resolution files to print. We would recommend at least 3000x3000 pixels if it's a square (maybe more), and it really just depends on how big you are wanting to print out your image. This one might be obvious, but use trending topics. And not just like a movie or a popular game that just came out. We mean using a trending design trend, like the 90s, Y2K, skulls, or something else that is popular with the people these days. Another way you can sell more shirts is by using positive messaging. Sometimes shirts don't always have to be super fancy and full of graphics or artwork. Sometimes just a "be yourself" or "you matter" or "love wins" shirt is enough, and people will be proud to wear that shirt since they want to reenforce the message. To give your shirt design further interest, try adding some light graphic elements or texture. Sometimes some little stars or maybe a simple illustration can tie your whole design together nicely, and it's super easy to do this using Kittl. And another way to give your shirt design more interest is to try using multiple fonts. Now a good rule of thumb is to limit yourself to 2 fonts when you are just starting out. But after you get more comfortable with how type styles work, you can add varying font styles to make a really cool composition. One last way you can sell more shirts on Amazon, Redbubble, or other sites is to target niche markets. Now this might be obvious, but think about the specific markets people are really crazy about and want shirts for. Like Dungeons and Dragons, Car Gurus, Fisherman, Gamers, and seriously so much more.
