BLEA TARN WILD CAMP DURING STORM ASHLEY (OBJECTIVE: SCAFELL PIKE)
Join me on my 4th solo mission through the heart of the Langdales, Lake District, this time Scafell Pike being the main objective. I started day 3 at Seathwaite Tarn, where I was greeted with a strong morning downpour. I headed up to Swirlhow, where I was repeatedly battered by the strong winds and rain. I frankly couldn't wait to get off the mountain as I generally felt unsafe. I started by descent from Wetherlam, unfortunately down a very sketchy path, which would have been dangerous on a clear, dry day, never mind during the full force of Storm Ashley! Finally I make it down to ground level and my walk to Blea Tarn continued in a safe manner. Little did I know, Storm Ashley would come back to haunt me and damage my new tent! A very eventful camp it was! Stick around for part 4, where we assess the damage and complete the final leg of the journey back to Grasmere.
