The Evolution Harley Lacked in One Area to The Twin Cam

The Evolution Harley lacked in one area compared to the Twin Cam and that's the cooling the system. The Evo Harley didn't run very hot but it did lack in the cooling system due to the much smaller and lesser number of cooling fins. The Twin Cam was upgraded with larger cylinders, more fins and not only more cooling fins but larger. This increased the cooling surface area which was good for the motor but it also had some unintended consequences.
