Aversion II (Official Music Video)

This is the official music video for Aversion II, a song that appears on my album, ALIEN TUNG, to be released on Detroit Underground records. I shot and edited the video myself. The song is about how women are expected to confine themselves to the cultural standards perpetuated by patriarchal ideals without question, or be shamed and publicly humiliated for not conforming. The fact is that our world culture is built on inherently misogynistic ideas, and this is evident in the staggering amount of abuse suffered by women globally due to culturally ingrained and rampant sexism, which has gone on uninterrupted for thousands of years into the present day. One such example is the historical mass murder of women who were unjustly accused of black magic witchcraft in medieval Europe (during the notorious witch burnings). The murder of hundreds of thousands of women has since been proven, through notable research by feminist scholars such as Silvia Federici, to have been nothing more than a power grab by elites in order to help usher in capitalism in the age of feudalism--when the peasantry still had a modicum of power over their lives. These elite, led by the Catholic Church, stole what little power (money and land) the women of the age had by accusing them of being evil and burning them at the stake. Stuff like this is still happening today (albeit by individuals cloaked in a different kind of robe) if you just take a look at the headlines. Why shouldn't we have an "aversion" to such powerful factions who lead malevolent causes under the guise of harmless tradition? Why shouldn't we question the basis of their causes, as well as the political agendas of all other unchecked corporate entities, and what their capitalistic gain has meant for our collective existence in the present day and beyond?
