Mount Robie Reid Summit in 1 Day - (All Class 4 Climbs Shown)

Saturday, July 29, 2023. Located in Mission, BC, down the Florence Lake FSR on the west side of Stave Lake, and Golden Ears Provincial Park. I returned for more punishment, this time with a gopro strapped to my chest. I met up with a long time friend and his girlfriend to summit Robie Reid in one day. We met at the start of the gravel road for 6am and up the forest service road we went. About a 7:30am start as we did a rescue tow at the trailhead for a stuck vehicle. Note that there is a new gate blocking the main road roughly 200m before the old turn off to the former Robie Reid parking area. It adds around 500m or so to the hike, and you need to park on the side of the road. Less than ideal, but it works. Start of trail drops down to Alouette Lake where you loosely follow the shoreline on bad trail for a few kms. North end of Alouette Lake is quite flat, great trail, through a beautiful forest. You'll pass the Golden Ears Provincial Park Boundary sign here. The route starts climbing fast and without switchbacks, it's straight up in many spots. A bit of under growth to bash through, and many fallen trees to jump over. Once you hit the tarns the fun begins. Here you follow the ridge for a short time and then the rocky ascent begins. Most people will generally refer to the rock climbing/scrambling you need to do here as class 3.5/4. Do not underestimate the difficulty of the ascent or descent. Do I need to say it's dangerous and approach with experience and caution? All 3 of us were tracking this trip, they had 2 gps watches, and I was using my phone. Slightly different numbers, but it doesn't matter much as this is a crazy jaunt regardless. Around 21.67km, 2650 meters elevation gain, and a total time of 13hr55min. Keep in mind there's a bit of discrepancy on elevation gain, maybe +/- 100 meters. Different distances on the 3 trackers of around 1km or so too.
