The Royal Enfield Himalayan now does things that the KTM 390 Adventure cannot even dream of. It's far and away the better bike. First, the Himalayan is no longer slow and if you're riding with friends, the Royal Enfield and the KTM will manage similar pace comfortably. Neither are devoid of refinement issues so that's not going to be a factor. Second, the Himalayan is now a much larger motorcycle and that means the KTM's biggest advantage – space for two-up with luggage riding – has been diminished somewhat. The KTM does have the better seat, there's no doubt about it. Third, where the Himalayan has no rivals is the chassis and suspension. The 21" front wheel makes it a genuine off-road-ready motorcycle whereas the tuning of the suspension – which is frankly incredible – makes absolutely superb in every road condition you will ever encounter.
