Exmouth Marina and Onto the Hard

Time for a haul out by crane in Exmouth Marina, Devon. After owning the boat for three years it is time for a haul-out. This is not only to clean and re antifoul but also to do a thorough check of the hull. One of the main things to check is the through hull fittings and remove all of them and re-seal them. Also, service the Blakes Sea Cock and re-lap in. It is always nerve racking when a crane lifts out your yacht with two slings up over a high harbour wall. During the service it turned out there was a very minor weeping through the toilet sea cock. Removing the old sealant and taking out the fitting was very time consuming, but all replaced and a new rubber seal made and sealed with Sikaflex 291. While on the hard we fitted new navigation lights, new alternator, new wiring upgrades, extra sound insulation and removal of all of the floors for a thorough clean of the bilges. We re-painted the lower water line stripe with Toplac which is now my favourite paint. A mixture of Oxalic Acid and liquid soap easily removed all of the yellowing on the fiberglass. Then a polishing machine to T-cut and wax the hull. All completed and looks so much cleaner. All of those little jobs on your boat that you will get around to are now completed. We are all ready for an exciting summer of sailing. Bring it on.
