He is foremost exponent of Bansuri & Shehnai and a celebrated artist recognized for his unique ability to perform on two instruments at a topmost level. It is indeed a very rare skill in the field of Hindustani music.He hails from Banaras and comes from a traditional family of musicians of renowned Banaras Gharana. He was groomed by his grand-father Pt. Gauri Shankar and father Pt. Raghunath Prasanna, who was the first in Prasanna family to introduce both Tripura and Krishna flute. Felicitated with Grammy Award certificate in 2004, Rajendra Prasanna became an international personality. He has performed across the globe, including appearance at renowned festivals and venues in many different countries across the globe. Raag puriya Kalyan is a fine blend of Raag Yaman in Uttarang and Raag Puriya or Raag Puriya Dhanashri in Poorvang. It is a raag from Marwa Thaat. The time to perform Raag Puriya Kalyan is Evening. There is an extensive debate going on in the world of Indian Classical Music about whether raag Puriya kalyan actually belongs to the Kalyan family or it is more similar to raag Purva and hence the arise of the question, "Are Raag Purva and Raag Puriya Kalyan two different raags, or two names for the same raag?". The most obvious conclusion is that neither Raag Purva nor Raag Puriya Kalyan can escape the aural images of either Raag Puriya or Raag Yaman. However, the aural experience they create is distinctive. Raag Purva does, indeed, come through as closer to Raag Puriya, and Raag Puriya Kalyan does emerge as being inspired more by Raag Yaman. The secret probably lies in the probabilistic technique of Raag differentiation. This baithak took place at the residence of Pt.
