Martha My Dear was recorded on October 4 and 5, 1968, this song only features Paul and George, with George playing his Gibson Les Paul Lucy and Paul playing the piano part, drums and bass (which I think he played his rickenbacker on this song), in addition to recording an overdub of handclaps. George's Unusual Chords: Something very interesting happens here and that is that George plays a couple of chords that were not common for that time and that were never played again in any other Beatles song. The first one we can hear is a Gm7 (0:36) to later add the 9th on the first string at the 5th fret (Gm7(9)) (0:39), these chords add an incredible tone and enrich the harmony (This chord will be played at different times throughout the guitar part (0:44, 1:11, 1:27). The next of these chords is an Abmaj7 (0:59), which is interspersed with a small leak on the 5th string of the first fret which is in the key of Bb. The last of these chords is a Dm7 (1:24), this type of "m7" chord was played in other songs, which is why it is the least "strange" in this song.
