Sonic Evaluation Sherwood Green Strats always have serious vibe, and Jason Smith always makes Viking-worthy guitars, so it's no surprise that this '61 Strat is the cat's meow! It has a pleasingly chunky, aggressive, articulate attack that cuts through the mix nicely. But, it never sounds harsh thanks to the inimitable sweet compression imparted by the Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The low mids have plenty of grunt and muscle, and the high mids sting and bite. In the high end, you'll find lots of cut, clang and chime. Down low, bass notes have plenty of power and warmth without overpowering the other frequencies. All in all, this guitar has fantastic balance across the board. It has an aggressive personality, but the Brazilian board rounds off its sharp edges.
