In Hokkien dialect , Char means “stir-fried” and Kway Teow refers to the flat rice noodle or rice-cake strips. The main ingredient of fried kueh tiaw is eggs & bean sprouts, (this is called "fried kueh tiaw kosong", a simple & budget fried K.T. meal), nowadays food stalls, cafe and restaurant cook the flat rice noodles with anything from eggs (chicken or duck or salted), onions, garlic, prawns, lobster, fish cakes/balls, chicken meat, beef, mutton, cockles, sausage, chives, and etc...
