We met them through The Marriage Collective which is formed out of Winshape Marriage in Rome, Ga. We were each specially invited to participate with other marriage influencers for a 3 day weekend. We were so excited to be invited onto their podcast. On this podcast we talk about the impact of porn on humans, especially males. And how I was exposed to porn at an early age and was also sexually abused during my childhood and the effects this has on my brain and body. This created the need for secrets and the desire to seek out more porn and the experiences associated with this sin. Yet, each time I saw porn or experienced keeping sexual sin secret, I would have intense shame. like wearing a heavy shame blanket around. This altered the way I viewed females. I saw them as less than God's beautiful children. I actually saw females as objects. "Secrets make you sick". Secrets led to all sorts of horrible behaviors and acting out in our marriage: mistrust secrets infidelity alcoholism prescription pills abuse suicide attempts We chose to avoid "red flags" or topics or subjects within our marriage for fear of how the conversation would go. Adelle would purposefully avoid asking questions and she would keep a false view of our marriage and present that view to others on social media, family, co-workers, church etc. In 2016 Adelle gave me an ultimatum to get help and get off the alcohol and prescription drugs. I was so thankful and went into rehab November 2016. And then we started working on ourselves and our relationship. In 2018 I (Travis) was saved and baptized on a Seacoast Church Greenville men's hike. During that same year several other things happened. Adelle had major back issues and had 2 spine surgeries that had lasting impacts on her body and mental health. She also discovered that I had been unfaithful. We then spent the next 4 years working through and healing ourselves individually and healing our past.
