Roti/unleavened Flat Bread Recipe

Roti recipe Roti or unleavened flat bread originated in India and it is a staple in most Indian households and made fresh daily. It is commonly eaten as an accompaniment to various curries, lentil soups and stew. Nowadays you can buy the roti’s, however, there is nothing like homemade roti! It does not need to be in a perfect shape or size. This irresistible, humble flatbread is just another level of deliciousness, when dipped in rich curry gravy…! Give it a try it is that easy. Ingredients - 1 cup Wheat flour - 1 tbsp olive oil - Boiling water - Ghee Method Add flour to a bowl, make a well, add oil then slowly add boiling water into oil and mix the mixture with spoon to combine. Carefully knead the dough till it is semi-soft. Test for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, knead for 30-40 seconds. Break into small balls, Roll out dough and cook in heated pan. While rolling, do not apply lot of pressure. The side or edge of the roti should be thinner compared to the center. Using a griddle, cook on medium to high flame. Cook on high flame for 7-8 seconds on first side. Then flip to roast the other side completely. After 7-8 seconds flip it again. Allow roti to puff. Using a cotton cloth , press the edges so it is evenly cooked. Place cooked roti in cotton cloth. Otherwise steam from the roti can make it soggy. Glaze roti with smidge of ghee once out of griddle. This is optional. Enjoy with any curry or simply enjoy warm roti applying some butter on it. It is definitely delicious with a cup of tea!
