Aphids are difficult to control because they reproduce quickly. They can cause extensive damage to fruit trees and other plants they attack in short periods of time. In this video, our tree specialist explains how to identify aphid damage and how to get rid of bad aphid infestations before they take over your yard. Check out our website for more helpful information about lawn and tree care: https://stewartslawn.com/ https://stewartslawn.com/blog/identif... Transcript: Hi, my name is Andrew Herr. I am a specialist for Stewart's Lawn Care, and today we're going to be talking about aphids. Aphids can look like clusters of black, green, or white bugs. They do tend to cluster up on fruit trees, flowering pears, ash trees, and even maple trees, but they can also cluster on any kind of tree with a leaf on it. They do tend to come out during the spring and summer time when the sun comes out and the heat comes up. Some active signs of aphids are the clusters of the bug itself, and also a sap that builds around the leaf, and also when the leaf curls up. The aphids eat the nutrients and water from the leaf itself, which tends to cause the leaf to shrivel up, and the aphid will leave a residue, which creates that shine and drip off the tree. There are different measures of aphid control, but natural resources such as ladybugs and wasps will eat the aphids. However, if the aphids are bad, we do offer a couple of different treatments for aphids. We would spray the tree with an insecticide that kills the aphids and keeps the aphids off the tree. We also can do an injection in which the aphids will die when we inject the tree with the insecticide. We do the treatments from the beginning of spring all the way through the summer. If you have any questions, you're welcome to call and ask any of our office members here at Stewart's. Background music: Alaska Sky by Patrick Patrikios
