It will cost you approximately 1000 Nepalese Rupee to enter the square. It is another 1000 for the tour guide, and I highly recommend having a guide. I paid for a guide to take us through two of the areas in Kathmandu, and missed out on a guide on one of them. I am highly impressed with the guides that I had, they were extremely informative and well versed in their history, and their english wasn't too bad either. Patan Durbar (Lalitpur) in Nepal is one of the three ancient cities in the Kathmandu Valley (Bhaktapur Durbar and Kathmandu Durbar are the others two). Patan Durbar Square (Durbar Square are called the squares in front of the Royal palaces) is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Please share your comments and feedback . . .
