Here are a few significant features of the project: -Spanning 11.8 km, the Thane-Borivali Twin Tube Tunnel will be India's longest and largest urban tunnel. -Utilizes the world’s largest Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) for construction efficiency. Connects Thane to National Highway 8 in Borivali, passing beneath the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. -Each tunnel features two unidirectional lanes and an emergency lane, interconnected by cross passages every 300 meters. Designed with state-of-the-art ventilation systems meeting international standards (NFPA502 and BD78-99). Projected to reduce CO2 emissions by 150,000 metric tonnes annually and decrease particulate matter, enhancing environmental sustainability. Utilizes 4,000 metric tonnes of structural steel and 660,000 cubic meters of concrete for robust infrastructure.
