One of the first things I do after importing a car from Japan is to change the engine oil and filter. In this video I bring you along for the engine oil and filter change, air filter replacement and coolant check on a 2012 Honda N-Box Custom kei car recently imported from Japan. The car is a 2012 Honda N-Box Custom G L Package in premium gold purple metallic paint (JF1 model code). It has a 3 cylinder 658 cc petrol engine and had covered ~94,000 km. I started by warming the engine up and then draining the oil. Next I removed the oil filter, in this case a HAMP (Honda After Market Parts) filter. With the oil draining I moved on to replacing the air filter. This was made much more difficult by an aftermarket Mitsuba Arena 2 horn control unit, which had been fixed to one of the battery clamp hooks. I fitted new HAMP oil and air filters. For oil, I used Millers fully synthetic 0w20: https://ebay.us/AO2Zga The engine takes 2.6 litres of oil with a filter change. The last thing was to check that the coolant concentration was adequate to prevent freezing in the winter. I used a refractometer, which showed the coolant was fine down to -40 degrees Celsius.
