A comparison video featuring seven vintage and modern essential guitar amplifiers. I've been testing different combinations of amps lately, and thought this would be an interesting video to make. Doesn't seem to be any other video out there with this much variety of amp style. I picked my current favorite amps to show the differences in tone and how they sit in a full band mix. Obviously there are other great amps out there. These are just the ones that I have in my studio. Signal chain: Dunable Gnarwhal 9 string, tuned to B F# B E G# B Kahayan amp/cab switcher to switch between these amps into Mesa 4x12 with Celestion V30 speakers micd with Heil PR31BW Note about amp settings: I didn't spend much time dialing in a tone besides setting them at a fairly neutral tone. The higher gain amps are at about a 6 in terms of EQ and gain. The older amps (that were designed long before high gain was a thing - Hiwatt, Marshall, Matamp), just got everything dialed to 10.
