Real world IFR here. It's always hard to show your flying failures, and I (Dan-- @SFilmsTakingOff) debated not uploading this one. This is an IFR approach to minimums, ILS. Flying with film crew member Alex Prado (@mexicanrupert). For me personally, I have a lot of actual, and my personal minimums are the ones listed on the plate. I don't recommend that for everyone. The failure here was when I didn't get my vertical indicator from my Garmin 430W to my Aspen PFD 1000, I forgot to look at my analogue backup-- which I had set, but instead decided to "cowboy" it down, just making sure I didn't go to low. So I ended up being high. Some good takeaways here: Use your backups when the primary fails. Utilize all the tools in your toolbox (I had synthetic vision available on the iPad-- I started using it after I debriefed myself on this landing. It s a good situational awareness tool).
