After the loss of two key agents, Ken Thurston (Mr. X), played by Barry Sullivan, is sent behind the Iron Curtain to find the traitor turning in an American Agents. Now another American agent trying to leave the country is arrested. The Western spy ring covertly operating in Leipzig, Germany has been compromised. The Man Called X is an espionage radio drama that aired on CBS and NBC from July 10, 1944, to May 20, 1952. The radio series was later adapted for television and was broadcast for one season, 1956–1957. This television episode, Voice on Tape, aired December 19, 1956.
