As, we know that there are three states of matter: solid, liquid and gas. Solid is the state of matter in which particles are closely packed together in regular pattern. Solids have definite shape and volume. We can not compress solids. Liquid is the second state of matter in which particles are are closely packed with no regular arrangement. Liquids have indefinite shape and definite volume. We can not compress liquids. Gas is the third state of matter in which particles are loosely arranged having no regular pattern. Gases have indefinite shape and indefinite volume. We can compress all gases.
