Hello, welcome to the Walking Code. This is the first online course in the Quantum Movement System Series. I am Dr. Todd Martin, creator of the Quantum Movement System The Quantum Movement System is a one of a kind framework for understanding how to achieve high quality, functional body movement in every aspect of your life. When you function as the body was designed to function, you can move with fluidity, you can move with grace, and most importantly, you can move without pain. Unfortunately so many people adopt dysfunctional patterns of movement that are destructive to the joints and connective tissues in the body. Because the destruction occurs so slowly over time, most people don't realize it is happening until they are already suffering from chronic pain, and they don't know why. I know nobody wants to live in pain. You don't want to live in pain. Sometimes pain is inevitable, but often it is preventable. Poor walking technique is one of those preventable causes. Walking is one of the most important functions we perform. If we follow recommended guidelines, we should be striving to get in at least 10,000 steps per day. That is 3.65 million steps a year. When done correctly, walking is a great form of cardiovascular exercise as well as being a great tool for either losing weight or maintaining a healthy weight. But when walking is done incorrectly, it can be an erosive, slowly destructive force that insidiously wears down the body over time. The result is back pain, hip pain, knee pain, and a host of ankle and foot disorders, all of which cause significant pain and disability. You may be suffering from one or more of these problems. It doesn't have to be that way. By learning the simple Walking Code, you can improve how you walk, run, sit, stand, go up and down stairs, walk up and down hills, and much, much more. This can be the key to reducing or preventing pain, increasing your feeling of wellbeing, and gaining a conscious connection to your own body.
