Mt. Pinatubo Zambales Volcano Trek⎜2018 Adventure

Who would think that the 1991 volcanic eruption of Mt. Pinatubo, which is 2nd most destructive in the world of this century, would give birth to a majestic natural wonder that adventurers like me would enjoy? Hello trackers! I am Lex and this is my Mt. Pinatubo Adventure. As we all know, the last week of April is reserved for Boracay Beach for the annual "Laboracay Holiday". But with the current situation in the island, we have to search for a perfect alternative. My friends and I decided to go on a little adventure and zeroed-in to a mountain trek. I’ve been wanting to do this trek ever since I hiked Taal Volcano. So without thinking, I said yes! And thankful, I did say yes! "IF YOU’RE ON TIME, YOU'RE LATE!" Yes, we arrived a minute past 6:00 am and everyone is ready for the briefing but us. We settled in quickly for this orientation is so essential, it could save you from danger. The team of TRIPinas headed by Ms. Ann, an experienced mountaineer, provided everyone an overview of the volcano and the adventure that we are about to face. (Listen and Learn!) After the orientation, we were group accordingly and jumped into our own 4X4 vehicle and ride the Lahar terrains for about an hour (I assume) to the jump-off point. While on the road, prepare yourself for the Lahar ashes, that's why in the video, you will see our faces fully covered. (TIP: Be the first vehicle to leave to avoid this dermatologic disaster.) Expect mandated stop overs so you can take snaps of the mountain ranges of the province. (TIP: Ask your driver to slow down at some points so you can do your selfies while on the road, they would not mind.) THE JUMP-OFF POINT. This place is so majestic, I tell you! You will be welcomed by what they call "Sand Castles". these gigantic land masses were formed by the Lahar that escaped the volcano when it erupted. In this stop, another orientation for the adventure-seekers like me. Make sure to listen! (I did not because I was filming... Hahaha! My friends did.) If there's one thing that I remembered from the orientation, it is the 7 kilometer trek to the crater. Expect an hour 45 minutes trek on the sandy to rocky to uphill to downhill terrains of Pinatubo under the 37-38 degree Celsius heat index of the summer sun. (TIP: BRING WATER, I MEAN LOTS OF IT! Hydrate yourself and don't die from heat stroke!) OMG! The trek is not that easy, really! Ms. Ann clearly specified that this is an "Easy" trek; that is according to classification of mountain treks. But, I tell you, if you are finicky and squeamish (what I'm trying to say is "Certified Maarte"), it is "Difficult"! But the scenery, I should say, that welcomes you every turn you make will compensate the effort. This place is amazingly breathtaking! 2 HOURS AND 20 MINUTES Yes, I made extensions and got what I deserved... The Mt. Pinatubo crater is majestic! Picture Perfect! We decided to have our lunch first before actually exploring the crater for all of us have an impending hypoglycemic attack from the long trek to this point. (TIP: Pack light, it is not a buffet feast. Unless you have your yay with you to bring everything.) THE CRATER 30 minutes after lunch, we headed down the volcanic crater and just simply stare at it for quite some time. You will wonder, how is this even possible? It's beautiful, no words can describe the feeling I felt after reaching this point. It's like all my "millennial complaints" are now gone. BONUS Look for the waterfalls and you will find it! (TIP: We asked our tour guide where the nearest falls is, and he showed us. Its just about 10 minute detour.) BEWARE OF LAHAT ASHES! On our way back to the town with our 4X4 ride, the morning Lahar ashes somewhat multiplied to 100 million! (TIP: Make sure all your gadgets are kept inside you bag! My camera lens was damaged.)
