Exploring Bordeaux En Primeur 2023 Day 1 - A Journey into Fine Wine Futures with Vin-X

We've just returned from a fantastic En Primeur week which saw the launch of the 2023 Bordeaux vintage. En Primeur, also known as wine futures, offers enthusiasts and investors alike the exclusive opportunity to taste and purchase wines before they are bottled and released to the market. Whether you're a big wine fan or a fine wine investor, Day 1 of #EnPrimeur2023 saw our team taste from Bordeaux's right bank, the famous Saint-Emilion and Pomerol regions. We found wines that are fresh, deep, and have a nice earthy taste, visiting the impressive Chateau Pavie, as well as seeing the new winery at Chateau Figeac. A common factor shared among many wines was a distinct level of freshness, coupled with minerality. We noticed a growing trend of producers embracing Cabernet Franc (a later ripening variety) in chateaux blends, a strategic move to combat the region’s rising temperatures. We all agreed that Cabernet Franc has plenty to offer to these blends, with its savoury characteristics and acidity.
