Last week I went to see "Poor Things". Thanks for the perks of being a union actor, I was able to watch it twice and even to invite a friend (Ash) who you can hear screaming next to me. Because it was my second time, I didn't mind seating in the first row as long as I could be near where the conversation would take place. (I brought a cushion for my lower back) This bizarre yet amazing film by Yorgos Lanthimos narrates the life of Bella Baxter (amazingly portrait by Emma Stone) who in a nutshell explores the pleasures and love of being alive and develope her human and female naive curiosity in excelarated steps including sexual desires with "angry jumpings" thanks to the help of an unscrupulous and entitled lawyer (cinically and perfectly performed by Mark Ruffalo), as she masters her own destiny after having a second chance to live given byher creepy "God", (fantastic executed job by William Dafoe). Because of the sex and freaking weird Frankenstein-ish scenes, not to mention her natural way to dispose of men, Poor Things has all the magical and fantastic elements to attract or disturb audiences. I particularly love it. And I smell many more awards to come than what they already have.
