This is my version of how to change the backlight LEDs on a Taranis. I have wanted to do this since I got my radio and watched some videos of this being done. What put me off was that I could not see exactly how to remove the LED PCB, so I thought I would attempt it and explain in a bit more detail so it would be a bit easier for someone Else who was going to try this MOD. Once I decided to use a desolder pump to completely remove the display and backlight, This made the process so much easier to swap out the LEDs with my new colour choice. You could use different colours as the LED specs are very similar and I don’t think would be That critical. Apologies for the quality of soldering, but I don’t have the equipment to Film close up, so I was eye balling this without a scope, also I did rush this a bit. In the end though it did the job, I now know how these small LED PCBs are put together and I Could actually make replacements if I had trashed them, also the pads were not that small, Only what you could see, as the rest of the area is masked white. Another way of doing this MOD would be to buy a LCD backlight module. Then MOD that, if you get it right then replace it with the one in your radio, if you mess up, You still have a working Taranis? You could also use this as a guide to MOD other makes of transmitter? Good luck!
