In mid-April 2024, We walked the Samurai trail - Nakasendo road between Magome-juku and Tsumago-juku. We were able to safely complete the 9km mountain trail in just over 3 hours. The day was sunny and the temperature was high, so we didn't tremble from the cold even on the early morning trails in the mountains. We have visited the charming post towns of Magome-juku and Tsumago-juku for sightseeing in the past, but we had never actually walked the Samurai trail - Nakasendo road that connects these two post towns. So this time, we decided to take a trekk! Each post town retains the atmosphere of the Edo period, and that alone is very attractive. On the other hand, if you actually walk along the Samurai trail - Nakasendo road that connects the two post stations, you will continue to walk through the deep forest, and as you approach the post station, your view will suddenly open up and you will be able to see the roofs of the houses where people live. At that moment, we felt very happy. We felt like I understood a little bit about the feelings of travelers during the Edo period. We will introduce you to many of the charms of post towns that still retain the atmosphere of the Edo period and the Samurai trail - Nakasendo road, which runs through the deep forest!
