Achevé à la fin du règne de Louis XV, la vocation théâtrale de l'Opéra Royal a pourtant été abandonnée au XIXe siècle pour abriter le Sénat. L'édifice ne retrouva sa fonction qu'en 1957. Après avoir accueilli pendant 50 ans nombre de spectacles, l'Opéra a fermé en 2007 pour deux ans de travaux. Depuis, le bâtiment rénové accueille à nouveau comédiens, musiciens et metteurs en scène sur les planches ainsi que les visiteurs du château de Versailles. 🌍 Completed at the end of the reign of Louis XV, the Royal Opera lost its theatrical and musical vocation in the 19th century when it was taken over by the Senate. It recovered its original function only in 1957. After hosting many performances over 50 years, the Opera was closed in 2007 for two years of refurbishment work.
