These exercises are to address issues with hip symptoms, such as pain and/or tightness in movements such as squat, lunges etc. This tightness is caused by compression of the tissues, not elongation of them. So even though they may feel "tight", it is not a stretching issue or lack of flexibility problem. The tissue capacity and load tolerance needs to be increased . A good analogy is build up a "callus" in your hip to handle the loads that will be placed on it. Another important consideration is the variation in our pelvic and femur morphology. The bone structures can vary from person to person, so your hips may have less range of motion (ROM) in certain positions and/or directions compared to other people.
