The Fender CD-60 has been one of our most popular acoustics for quite a few years now, as it offers the kind of quality, sound and playability that you’d expect from one of the worlds leading guitar manufacturers, but at a very affordable price point, and this makes them an ideal choice for beginners, or for more experienced players who might be on a bit of a budget. For the MkIII version Fender haven’t made any drastic changes to their best-selling model, it’s still a full size, classic dreadnought design acoustic that plays and sounds just as great as it always has done. The main changes are to some of the woods used in it’s construction, due to some of the recent restrictions on the use of Rosewood. As it always has done, the CD-60 features a laminated Spruce top supported by scalloped X-bracing, and the back and sides are made from laminate Mahogany, which when combined with it’s dreadnought size offers a really bold, resonant tone, ideal for both strumming and fingerpicking styles. The neck is also made from Mahogany, as opposed to Nato like on some of the previous versions, and this features Fender’s comfortable C-shape profile, which along with the great quality, low string action setup, makes the guitar feel really easy to play, one of the reasons the CD-60 is so popular with beginners. The big change that Fender have made for the version 3 is to the fingerboard and bridge, which are now made from high quality walnut, a more than adequate substitute for Rosewood. Other than that, it’s pretty a case of if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. There’s set of quality die-cast machine heads, a graphtech Nubone nut and a compensated saddle, which all ensure that tuning is smooth and intonation stays accurate, all the while maintaining maximum transfer of string vibrations. The fingerboard features 20 frets and small dot inlays, the guitar comes pre-fitted with strap buttons making it easy to attach a guitar strap, and just like on previous models there’s some nice cosmetic features such as body binding and a black pick guard, there’s a new mother of pearl acrylic sound hole rosette, and the guitar’s finished in a hard wearing gloss polyurethane finish. We’re pleased to say the CD60 is still one of the best value dreadnought acoustic guitars on the market. Find us on social media: / pmthouseofrock / pmthouseofrock / pmthouseofrock
