Another classic upwind deflate Moody afternoon and the end of a long day. Times like these it’s nice to have the right gear on… the bigger board makes life easy. My latest wetsuit has me comfortable and clean. My trusty foil setup… It removes fear… I don’t need to be afraid on the ocean to have fun. If I had a smaller board or foil or no wetsuit there would be pressure to getting going… I don’t recommend it. A few of the guys I ride with enjoy the pain… the like to test themselves. I’ve had enough tests for now. I might go down that route when I needed added excitement but currently I’m enjoying refining my craft… That’s gear and skills. Matt had a problem getting going in this stuff, this day. I think I did too… it was quite big fast moving swell. I know he got going at stanmore point. Sam Kynman Cole was out too and went further out to sea than me or Matt, and likely on tiny gear. Sam is often on the 95L north board and riding some pretty small foils. Dylan had headed to the south side of the peninsula and sent the shakespare to takapuna run in some iffy wind… oh, to be younger and able. Anyway hopefully you get something from the footage.
