Join us for an evening with renowned economist Melissa Kearney, who specializes in issues related to social policy, poverty, and inequality. In “The Two-Parent Privilege,” Kearney presents a data-driven argument for the importance of marriage in addressing economic challenges in the United States. She draws on over a decade of economic research to demonstrate that households with two married parents, while still prevalent among the upper class, have become increasingly rare among other socioeconomic groups, contributing to inequality and limiting opportunities for certain children. Melissa S. Kearney is the Neil Moskowitz Professor of Economics at the University of Maryland. She is also Director of the Aspen Economic Strategy Group; a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER); and a non-resident Senior Fellow at Brookings and has testified before Congress on income inequality.
